I'm Amy Faulkner. I'm a Welsh-born Londoner and live with my family in Isleworth, West London. Along with yoga I love travel, a good book, and long lunches with friends and family. I have a background in international development and am passionate about people realising their full potential.
I've been practising and enjoying yoga for over 18 years - I love how it makes me feel both physically and emotionally and try to convey that during my teaching. I studied with the British Wheel of Yoga, and have a 500 hour level 4 Diploma in Teaching Yoga.
why grounded yoga?
People come to yoga for all sorts of different reasons - to relax, recharge, face a new challenge or simply have some time to themselves. A grounded yoga practice covers all of those - we spend time checking in with the body, breath and mind before moving round the mat in our asanas (physical postures) at a level that suits each individual. We also make time for pranayama (breathing) practice and guided relaxation. Some students are at the start of their yoga journey and others have been practising for years. What's important is to come with an open heart and a willingness to explore just what your body and mind can do!

In my drop in classes I aim to leave you feeling relaxed, calm, but also invigorated and ready for anything! Through a mix of physical movements, breathing exercises, and guided relaxation, these classes are suitable for all levels of yogi.

A 5-week class pass costs £45, or you can pay as you go for £11 a session. These can be used at Wycombe House or St John's Centre. Classes at The Exchange are sold in six-week blocks for £60, or £12 to drop in.

Sometimes people just can't commit to a regular class but still want to make time for yoga in their lives. I am able to teach you in the privacy and comfort of my personal studio, or even in your own home, creating a practice tailor made for you as an individual or as a group of friends. I'm happy to talk about one off packages too - yoga can be a great way to gently wake up a hen party or be an alternative team bonding event - just drop me a line!
I offer corporate packages for a lunchtime or post work stretch to get rid of any tension and help deal with stress in the workplace. As long as you have a space large enough to put some mats on the floor, any area of an office can double up as a yoga studio.
And kids love yoga too - it's a great way for them to understand what they can achieve with their bodies in a non-competitive and fun environment, while also making space for some quiet time in their busy lives. I am fully trained and DBS checked, so can offer classes in or outside of school.
post natal and baby yoga
After all the changes that pregnancy and labour bring to the body, post natal yoga is a wonderful way for a new mother to reconnect to her body and begin to make time for herself again. My postnatal classes are designed to put the new mother first, but as the babies are with us in the room they inevitably get a lot of attention too! In small groups of just four women we go through a gentle practice to begin to build up strength post-birth. It's a lovely way of bonding with your baby as well as meeting other women going through similar experiences.
Classes are run at my studio in Isleworth in six-week blocks on Wednesday mornings. They're suitable for all postnatal women and babies who have had their six-week GP check, until the babies are crawling and mobile. Contact me to find out more and book a place.
If you're part of a group of postnatal women (eg an NCT group) and would like to do a class together, let me know and if possible I will add a weekly session just for your group.
